Ice Storm Safety Reminder from R&R Heating & Air Conditioning

With the ice storm moving through, we want to remind our customers about the risks of trying to run heat pump systems during severe icing conditions.

When ice builds up, heat pumps can struggle to operate properly. Forcing the system to run can lead to:
• ⚠️ Equipment damage
• ⚠️ Frozen coils and restricted airflow
• ⚠️ Higher energy bills with little to no heat
• ⚠️ Costly repairs once the storm passes

Our advice: If your system isn’t keeping up or is icing over, don’t push it. Switch to emergency/auxiliary heat if available and give us a call. Protecting your system now can save you major headaches later.

As a family-owned business serving both residential and commercial customers, your comfort and safety are always our top priority.

Possible snow & Ice Storm Incoming — Is Your Heat Ready? 🔥

With snow and icy temps on the way, now’s the time to make sure your heating system is prepared to keep your family safe and warm.

✔️ Change your air filter

✔️ Make sure vents are clear of snow

✔️ Set your thermostat to a consistent temperature

✔️ If your system sounds or smells “off,” don’t ignore it

✔️ If ice or freezing rain is expected, turn your
thermostat to EM or AUX heat to avoid significant damage to your outdoor unit. *Yes, this will increase your electric bill, but is cheaper than a new system by miles

Our team is standing by to help with emergency repairs and last-minute tune-ups before the storm hits. Stay warm, stay safe, and don’t hesitate to call us if you need help!

This morning, Sammy Stotts and Drew Hinton conducted a training session for R&R Heating & Air Conditioning in Brownsville, KY. While companies hope to never have to deal with OSHA's enforcement divison, it's important for employers and employees to understand OSHA's inspection process, their rights during an inspection, and best practices to reduce the employer's overall risk.

During this session, we discussed many topics from preparing for an OSHA inspection to what to expect after an inspection is completed, such as employer/employee rights, the "plain view" rule, types of violations and penalties, posting requirements, options for contesting a citation, and other tips to help make the process go as smoothly as possible.

Would your employees know how to respond if OSHA knocked on your door? If not, contact us and we can help!

❄️Tips to Lower Your Electric Bill During Extreme Cold❄️

As the temperatures drop, your heating system works overtime to keep you warm. But there are simple ways to stay cozy without seeing a spike in your electric bill. Here are some energy-saving tips to help you stay comfortable and save money during this cold snap:

Seal Gaps and Leaks – Check for drafts around windows and doors, and seal them with weatherstripping or caulk. This will keep warm air in and cold air out.

Keep Your Thermostat Set Lower – Lower your thermostat by just 1-2 degrees and you'll notice a difference in your bill. Try wearing an extra layer to stay cozy!

Use Ceiling Fans Wisely – Reverse the direction of your ceiling fan to clockwise. This helps push warm air down, especially near the ceiling.

Change Air Filters Regularly – Clogged filters reduce efficiency and make your heating system work harder. Change them every month during the winter.

Ensure Your Insulation is Up to Par – Proper insulation in your attic, walls, and floors can reduce heat loss, saving you money in the long run.

Close Curtains at Night – Close blinds or curtains after sundown to trap heat inside and prevent warmth from escaping through the windows.

Get Your HVAC System Checked – Regular maintenance can ensure your system is running efficiently. A quick tune-up now can help prevent costly repairs later!

Stay warm and save energy this winter! Need a tune-up or have questions? Call R&R Heating & Air Conditioning today. We’re here to help keep your home comfortable and your bills low. ☃️🏠

!FREEZING RAIN WARNING!
We HIGHLY recommend turning all heat pump systems to emergency heat. This will reduce the likelihood of ice accumulation on your outdoor units and causing damage to the condenser coils from that accumulation.

Once the cold snap has ended, confirm that you do not have accumulation of ice on your fan blades of the outdoor unit and resume normal operation.

For homes that utilize gas heat your system operation should not be affected.

Dual Fuel Customers should confirm that your outdoor units are NOT running during extreme cold.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm.
