Ranger College is near and dear to my heart, not only since I used to teach there under the late and great Dr Don Bostic, but because community colleges generationally change families for the better. A lot of their students are family first time college graduates.
Texas-Clean is also longtime proud supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Brown County. Always a great time to host Ranger College folks, friends, and family at the annual fundraiser for the club.

This past weekend, President Dr. Derrick Worrels, alongside his wife, First Lady Stephanie Williams-Worrels, and Senior Vice President of Instruction/VP of the Brown County Center, Dr. Dayna Prochaska, along with her husband Dale, attended the Boys & Girls Club fundraising event that brought together community leaders for an evening focused on youth development, mentorship, and opportunity.

The event highlighted the organization’s critical role in providing a safe, supportive environment where young people can learn, grow, and build confidence for their future. A special highlight of the evening was a live performance by country music artist Gene Watson, whose presence added energy and excitement while fostering a strong sense of community among attendees.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Hank Hunter with Texas Clean for his continued support of Ranger College and for allowing us to participate in this amazing event.

Overall, the event was a meaningful success, demonstrating the power of collaboration, leadership, and community support in creating positive outcomes for the next generation.

Happy Giving Tuesday! Texas-Clean is celebrating 20 years in business this year.

I have been a long time supporter of the Ark. About twelve years ago, I established the Coy Pullara "Unsung Hero Award" to honor and memorialize my friend Coy, who worked as a clinical social worker here and in Abilene. She was instrumental in starting the Noah Project (1984 Abilene) and the Ark (2000 Brownwood). This award to honor a local "Unsung Hero" has always gone to someone who has helped to support the Ark's mission to provide help and healing to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Also at that time, I remodeled what became the "Family Room" inside the Ark Shelter known as "Coy's Place". That project lead to the adopt-room program. One by one all of the client rooms were repainted, redecorated, and outfitted right down to the pillow cases and curtains by other individual groups and businesses in our community.

My efforts then were in direct support of the clients of the Ark and to honor my dear friend who had passed away recently. To celebrate our 20th year in business, I wanted to do something in support of the "Caregivers" who comprise board volunteer members, community resource teams, Ark staff, and advocates.

As the Ark Administrative office has moved to a new location with their open house coming up soon, I took to task creating a first class board training room. I had a great time choosing the colors, flooring, break area components, as well as the table and chairs. To commemorate the room, me and AI or would it be more correct to say, AI and I wrote an inscription for a display in the space.

When I went by today to take a picture for Giving Tuesday, Terri Densman, the Ark Director, surprised me with a special 25th Anniversary Coy Pullara Award. I cannot say thanks enough for the award and the work of the Ark.
