The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo & Food Truck Cook-off returns September 17 at the Brownwood Event Center Complex.

More than a century of Brownwood history is being uncovered inside the future Dippel Museum of the Wild.

The building at 100 N. Center Avenue was once home to Brownwood National Bank, founded in 1892. After the bank relocated in 1910, the Queen Hotel operated in the building between 1921 and 1930. As renovation work continues, faded painted advertisements have been revealed along the interior walls, offering another glimpse into the many chapters of this downtown property.

Today, new framing stands alongside original stone walls, arched windows, and remnants of the building’s past as the space takes on its next purpose. Take a look at the latest construction progress.

Construction continues to move forward at the future Dippel Museum of the Wild in Downtown Brownwood.

Located at 100 N. Center Avenue, the museum and event venue is undergoing an extensive renovation as the historic downtown property is prepared for an entirely new purpose. The current phase of construction encompasses approximately 60% of the building and represents one of the largest private investments in recent history in Downtown Brownwood.

Once complete, the museum will add another unique destination to Downtown Brownwood, featuring an expansive collection of wildlife from around the world.

The project is currently expected to open in early 2027. Take a look at the latest progress!
