Here’s a quick HVAC question we get this time of year: Do you need to cover your outdoor AC unit for the winter?
Usually, no.
Your outdoor unit is built to handle Ohio weather, including rain, snow, ice and cold. Completely wrapping it up for the winter can actually trap moisture inside and give mice and other critters a nice place to settle in.
Instead, just keep an eye on the area around it. Clear away leaves, sticks and other debris as they collect, and make sure nothing is blocking airflow.
No need to bundle up your AC for winter. It can handle the cold.
