With temperatures dropping below freezing, heat pumps are designed to automatically switch over to emergency heat. When this happens, your system may sound different than usual, and that’s normal.

Your system is designed to run through defrost cycles to protect itself from freezing temperatures and winter rain. Unfamiliar noises may cause concern, especially since we don’t experience weather like this very often.

👉 What to watch for:
If your thermostat is holding the set temperature, everything is working as it should. No need to panic, it may sound different, but it’s doing its job.

Day 5 of tech appreciation week, and we saved the best for last! The one I'm sure we've all been waiting for. 👀🥶

Carl’s journey into the HVAC world started early—like, really early. At just 8 years old, he became a little helper for his neighbor Neal, and the spark was lit from there. Fast forward to today, and Carl plays a big role in making sure every job at Cool Climate is done right. According to him, what sets the company apart is that we stand behind our work 100%. Every job goes through Carl, so he always knows what’s going on— yes, he’s got all the deets.
His go-to advice for homeowners? Wait for it… surprise! Change your filters regularly and schedule preventative maintenance at least once a year. It’s the easiest way to keep your system happy (and avoid any surprise meltdowns—literally).
For Carl, the best part of being in HVAC is getting to meet all kinds of interesting people. Every day brings a new face, a new challenge, and a new story.
When he’s off the clock, Carl enjoys spending time with his family. When we asked him for a fun fact, he said, “I don’t lie”—but anyone who knows him knows that anytime he does try to fib, he can’t help but smile. Safe to say, he’s not great at keeping a straight face. His proudest accomplishments? Watching Cool Climate grow into the company it is today, and having his father as his best friend.
And we couldn’t leave out this quote he shared during our chat:
“I am grateful for everything God gives me. God runs my company—I’m just the advisor.”

His passion, leadership, and commitment to the company and all of us definitely doesn't go unnoticed. We’re so proud to work for someone who truly cares, works hard, and still knows how to have a good time. Thanks for everything, Carl. We appreciate you more than you will ever know!

It’s Day 4 of Tech Appreciation Week!
Today we recognize Caleb for being a dependable, knowledgeable, and all-around awesome part of the team. Thank you for everything you do!

Caleb got his start in the HVAC field when his Uncle Carl needed a hand one summer. What began as a seasonal favor turned into a 12-year (and counting) career. According to Caleb, what sets Cool Climate apart is the ability to really get to know and connect with customers—something that’s often missing in the bigger, more corporate companies.
His go-to tip for homeowners? Don’t get fooled by the fancy filter names. It’s not about how expensive the filter is—it’s about how often you change it. A standard filter works just fine, as long as you replace it as recommended. Your system doesn’t need a luxury brand; it just needs a little consistency.
For Caleb, the most rewarding part of being an HVAC tech is the look of relief on a customer’s face when their system is up and running again. It’s the small victories—like bringing back the cool air during a heatwave—that make it all worth it.
Outside of work, Caleb enjoys fishing and watching films (probably not fishing films, though). A fun fact? He’s a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan—even though he’s never actually seen them play in a Super Bowl during his lifetime. Not once. Still loyal, though.
Caleb says his proudest accomplishment is working in this trade for over a decade—and doing it side-by-side with his favorite mentor, Uncle Carl.

Evan got into the HVAC field to further his education and expand his knowledge—but let’s be honest, taking things apart and figuring them out is just too much fun to pass up. According to Evan (yes, these are his words), what sets Cool Climate apart from other companies is the honesty, integrity, and genuine family vibe among the team.
His top tip for homeowners? Change your filters as directed— once a month. Your system will thank you. (yes, we’re seeing the same pattern about filter changes too, you’re not crazy, it’s SO important!)
For Evan, the most rewarding part of being an HVAC technician is the complexity of the systems and the satisfaction of solving tricky problems. Basically, he’s like a mechanical detective, but with better tools.
In his free time, Evan enjoys running, tending to his garden, and volunteering as a firefighter. Oh, and did we mention he once lived in Europe and still travels frequently? Our international man of mystery.
Our little gardener says his proudest accomplishment is serving in the Army—and right up there on the list is the fact that his garden continues to survive under his watch.

Ty brings energy, precision, and a positive attitude to every job.
We’re proud to have him on the team—thanks for all you do, Ty!

Ty found his way into the HVAC world thanks to his love for troubleshooting and fixing things—basically, if it’s broken, he’s already halfway to repairing it. What sets Cool Climate apart, in Ty’s opinion, is our speed in responding to calls and the honesty we bring to every job.
Ty’s top homeowner tip: if you’ve got furry friends who shed like it’s their job, check your filters more often. Your HVAC system (and probably your pets) will breathe easier.
For Ty, the best part of being an HVAC technician is the challenge of diagnosing a tough problem—and the satisfaction of seeing a happy customer once it’s solved.
When he’s not saving the day one thermostat at a time, Ty enjoys hitting the lake and wakeboarding. Fun fact: he lived in California for 19 years, which might explain his chill lake vibes.
His proudest accomplishment? Marrying his wife and welcoming his newborn son, Steel, into the world just four weeks ago. Congrats, Ty—new dad duties and HVAC calls? You're officially a superhero.

Starting with Charlie-

Charlie was introduced to the HVAC world at the ripe old age of 14, thanks to his father, who owned an air conditioning company back in the 1980s. What started as a family trade quickly became a lifelong career—now over 30 years strong!
In Charlie’s eyes, what sets Cool Climate apart is the way customer satisfaction is placed front and center. It’s not just about fixing systems; it’s about making sure every customer feels comfortable and cared for.
His top tip for homeowners? Schedule preventative maintenance at least twice a year to keep your system running smoothly—something Charlie has plenty of experience with. A little checkup now can save you from a major headache later.
