Turning brownfields to brightfields is a job that never gets old.

We joined the town of Derry, NH, to celebrate the completion of a new solar array on the town's capped municipal landfill.

Some project highlights:

⚡ 10 acres of underutilized land is now generating enough power for roughly 500 average NH homes a year.

⚡Encore financed, built, and operates the array at no upfront cost to the town.

⚡Projected savings: ~$4M+ in electricity costs over 25 years, with year-one savings estimated at $250K-$300K.

⚡The hard work of the all-volunteer Net Zero Task Force made this project possible

Do you have questions about solar grazing?

We've got answers.

Join the American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA) for a dynamic, one-day agrivoltaics training designed specifically for solar developers, asset managers, and operations teams. The workshop provides a clear, practical overview of how to effectively integrate sheep grazing into solar site management, grounded in real-world experience and industry best practices.

We're excited to host this workshop at our beautiful offices in Hula on Lake Champlain in Burlington, VT on Oct 9. The afternoon will include a site visit to see Agrivoltaic Solutions LLC sheep in action at our Danyow Road Solar array in Sheldon, VT.

Our very own Lauren Glickman was recently featured in a Canary article on new policies emerging from Virginia to strengthen the agrivoltaics industry.

“Production on roughly 150,000 acres of prime cropland across the state stopped between 1986 and 2018 because the economics didn’t work for farmers. Right now, there is real potential for solar to bring this abandoned farmland back.”

Battery storage is growing at a historic rate, and many communities are weighing their first grid-connected project. Local safety policies and ordinances are taking shape.

It’s important to turn to experts like fire marshals, safety engineers and independent research for information to develop these policies and not let headlines dictate policy.

Three topics come up most often: fire safety, groundwater and location.

Questions on these topics have real, data-backed answers that are supported by experts.

Every battery energy storage system (BESS) installed in the United States must meet a layered stack of consensus-based, nationally recognized design, construction, and testing requirements for product safety, installation, and performance.

Here’s what the primary sources say.

Spring is a season of growth.

We are proud to partner with grazers across our solar portfolio to help manage vegetation in around our arrays by deploying sheep. This collaboration is a great example of how farming and solar can work together.

It's one of our favorite signs of spring to see Rebekah Pierce's flock hard at work at Constable Solar in Constable, New York.

You know the saying, "April showers bring May flowers!" The arrival of spring also brings with it more sunshine and solar power to the grid.

Construction continues at our Brighton 1 and 2 Solar projects in Brighton, Illinois. Once online, these two new solar projects will be delivering 9 MW of affordable and reliable community solar to Ameren customers.

This Earth Day, we're skipping the stock photos.

Instead, here's what progress actually looks like: four active construction sites across our portfolio, our teams putting in the work to deliver energy's second act or "encore." 💪

To every crew on-site today and everyday, thank you for commitment to building the energy transition!

We believe in keeping the community in community solar!

We're excited to team up with Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire during NH Energy Week for a drop-in open house at the Poverty Plains Solar Project in Warner, NH.

Built on a former gravel pit, this 20-acre site features 12,000 solar panels generating enough electricity to power more than 1,000 New England homes—demonstrating how communities can turn underutilized land into local energy solutions.

Stop by to tour the site, meet the project partners and learn how models like group net metering allow municipalities to benefit from shared solar.
