Holy crap, Lassen County (and beyond)! We are blown away, but mostly honored and humbled by the overwhelming showing of support at last night‘s Board of Supervisors meeting.

The Skyline Aggregates and Recycling Facility received a 5–0 unanimous vote of approval!

We are forever grateful to the 200 people who showed up; to every person who spoke, signed our letter of support, cheered on the sidelines, stayed home and watched kids so family members could attend, called and gave words of encouragement, called friends and neighbors, drove multiple hours, etc….we could go on for days. But I guess what we’re really trying to say is thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We will never take your support for granted. And we will never forget all of you who showed up for us both directly and indirectly.

We're proud to commit and invest in this region for another 50 years. That's long enough for someone we hire next summer to spend a whole career here, then hand the hard hat to their kid.

This quarry will generate local jobs that don't require moving away. It'll help fund schools and county services, and it'll supply the aggregate used to build the roads your grandkids will drive on. We're going to run this operation to the highest environmental standards in California.

Even the people who spoke against the project did it with respect. That tells you something about this community. They care enough to show up and speak their minds, and we're going to honor that by proving they can trust us.

We've got work to do. Let's build something we're all proud of.

With gratitude,
The Hat Creek Construction family

For over five decades, Hat Creek Construction & Materials has been building roads and infrastructure across the North State.
The proposed Skyline Aggregate & Recycling Facility is designed to supply our region for the next 50 years. This is long enough for a worker hired next summer to build a full career here and then hand their hard hat to their kid.

We need your support tonight! Join us at the Lassen County Board of Supervisors Meeting tonight at 6 PM!

Can’t make it in person? You can still make your voice heard by signing our letter of support:

The Skyline Aggregate & Recycling Facility is designed to exceed California's environmental standards, not just meet them.

California already sets some of the strictest requirements in the country for permitting a quarry. We went further, commissioning a full environmental impact report and inviting a second, independent layer of review.

The site plan protects water, too. Our water use is a small fraction of what neighboring agricultural operations draw, and most of it goes to dust control.

Employee Meat Giveaway #2 of the Season!

There were a lot of smiling faces yesterday as more than 40 of our team members received locally raised beef and pork purchased at the Lassen County Fair Junior 4-H & FFA Livestock Auction.

We can’t say enough good things about our rural 4-H and FFA programs. These young people learn responsibility, leadership, work ethic, and entrepreneurship—values that strengthen our communities for generations to come.

One of Hat Creek Construction’s core values is Community, and this is one of our favorite ways to live it. By purchasing animals at the 4H & FFA Livestock Sale and sharing that meat with our employees, we’re investing in both the future and the present at the same time.

We’ll keep saying it: whenever you’re concerned about the future of our country, spend some time around these incredible 4-H and FFA members. They give us plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

Our Values:
Teamwork • Respect • Pride • Reputation • Community

Our Vision:
Taking care of our people and our communities by delivering exceptional quality, in a safe and always improving environment.

The Skyline Aggregate & Recycling Facility has been through the most rigorous environmental review California requires.

In this clip, Perry Thompson walks Richard Egan through what that involves. A full environmental impact report under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Biologist and archaeologist surveys of the entire property before anything else moved forward. Review by independent consultants, then a second review by the county's own consultant.

Then an open public comment period, where any resident or agency can weigh in.

We asked for that second layer of scrutiny. (Nobody required it.)

The Skyline Aggregate & Recycling Facility would give Lassen County a reliable, local supply of aggregate.

It's the base layer under every road, driveway, foundation, and sidewalk in this county. Without a nearby source, local projects wait on trucks from out of the area and pay for every mile.

A dependable supply close to Susanville keeps public and private construction on schedule and on budget. That's what makes growth affordable here.

Good quality of life is rooted in infrastructure. And that all starts with a local aggregate supply.

Aggregate is heavy, and hauling it is expensive. Every mile a truck travels adds cost to a road project, a home build, or a county repair job, plus emissions, air quality, and wear on the highways we all drive.

When rock comes from Reno or Plumas County, that money leaves. When it comes from here, it stays. The Skyline Aggregate & Recycling Facility would give Lassen County a local supply for the next 50 years.

Community is one of our core values, and it shows up in places you'd recognize.

At the Lassen County fair, where we've been one of the top buyers supporting local kids and their animals. In contracts with Susanville hardware stores, fuel suppliers, and mechanics. In paychecks spent within a few miles of where they're earned.

In this clip, Perry Thompson explains to Richard Egan why sourcing rock locally through the Skyline Aggregate & Recycling Facility keeps that money circulating here instead of sending it to suppliers in Reno or Plumas County.
