Who remembers when receipts looked like this? ⛽📄

Back in 1959 there were no email confirmations, no online accounts, and no printing labels from a computer. Just handwritten sales tickets, carbon copies, good service, and people doing business with a handshake.

Looking through pieces of history like this reminds us how much has changed over the years and how much has stayed the same. At Burtonsville Fuel, we still believe in taking care of customers the right way and building relationships that last.

And more importantly... who remembers when you could fill up your oil tank for $30?! 😲

From now until the end of May, we’re taking time to celebrate the life and legacy of Cy Santini, co-owner of Burtonsville Fuel.

This week, we’re sharing a special piece from the past… an original newspaper article featuring Cy and the office staff.

Back then, being featured in a magazine was such a big deal, it made the newspaper. That says a lot about the pride, hard work, and reputation this company was built on.

We’re incredibly grateful to still have pieces like this saved. They remind us where we came from and the people who helped build Burtonsville Fuel into what it is today.

Here’s to Cy, and to a legacy that continues to live on.

Today one month from the anniversary of his death we remember Cy. Cy was a founding force behind Burtonsville Fuel and a pillar in Burtonsville for generations. He helped establish the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department, was a dedicated member of the Lions Club, and gave back to his community in ways that can’t fully be measured.

He was a proud man. A humble man. Stoic, with a dry sense of humor that always caught you off guard.

He loved his tractors. He loved his garden. He loved the simple things. Traveling was never his thing, but building something meaningful right here at home was.

And if you knew him, you know… matching clothes was not exactly his strong suit. That part still makes us laugh every time we think of him.

He was generous. Dedicated. The kind of man you looked up to without even realizing it.

As one family member so beautifully said,
“If I can be half the person he and Frances were, I know I’ve done something right in my lifetime.”

That says everything.

Today, we remember Cy not just for what he built, but for who he was, and the legacy he leaves behind in his family, this business, and this community.

Forever part of Burtonsville.
