Last week we were a little late to post due to taking great care of our valued clients so we are combing week 3 + 4 of our blog!:
“Exterior Education from the Elevated Experts”

Soffit and Fascia; they go hand in hand-
What is it & why do we need it?

• Soffit- the horizontal surface under the roof’s eaves/ overhang & seals the gaps between the underside of the roof and the exterior walls of the home to keep out weather + pests
*Non-Vented Soffit is typically used on overhangs of gables or any sections that DO NOT require air intake for attic ventilation.
*Vented Soffit is typically used on eaves of the home that allows cool air to enter into the attic space; Working along side the roof’s ridge vent, that allows hot air to escape.

•Fascia- the straight, barrier surface that caps the outer edge of the roof’s rafters, protecting the interior of the roof from moisture. It also is the support necessary to hang and secure the home’s gutters.

“Exterior Education from the Elevated Experts”

Drip edge -
What is it and why do we need it?

Drip edge is a flashing along the eaves of a roof and it usually is an “L of T” shaped to redirect rain water from the soffit and fascia boards into the gutter system & it’s always installed before shingles.

Why do you need it?
• It blocks pest as it closes up daylight that mice, insects and bats use to enter attics
• Adds wind resistance and helps prevent water intrusion on eves and rakes during heavy rains.
• Minimizes ice damages as it helps shed water during thaw cycles in the winter
• Prevents rotting of the roof deck

Up 1st, House wrap:
What is it & Why is it significant?

House wrap goes on the exterior of a structure before any siding install is executed; is a water resistant sheet barrier that prevents mold & protects the framing from moisture while breathing out humidity and indoor vapors.

On pole buildings like shown, it’s vital to have to prevent condensation from temperature change as metal sweats.
