CITY ACCEPTS BUILDING PERMITS FOR NEW CAFE IN OLD BRUSTER’S BUILDING: According to City of Calhoun Building Official Joey Moore, a building permit was issued by the City last week to J.T. Williams Construction for the renovation of the old Bruster's Ice Cream building, located at 710 South Wall Street, into a new eating establishment, La Brulee Café.
The 1,510 square feet existing building is proposed to have interior dining that will consist of three 4-seat tables and three 2-seat tables. According to Moore, the drive thru will also be utilized.
No word yet on what type of food will be served as La Brulee is not part of a franchise. On Thursday, renovation work had begun on the building with the red awning and signage removed from the front of the building .
Bruster's of Calhoun Inc. was registered with the Georgia Corporations Division in 2002, and has been closed for at least a decade, with the establishment being listed as dissolved in 2015 per the State's records.
