CAT Day - Summer Edition for our student on the Whitfield Murray Campus of GNTC. Yancey Bros. Co. Brought a couple extra pieces of equipment to add to what we already have to make an amazing day of actual hands-on instruction for these Construction Management students. We also added a Lull and scissor lift so that students get lots of “seat-time” on different pieces of construction equipment. A HUGE thanks to Seth and his co-workers at Yancey for making this happen.

SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta this week. GNTC is represented with a state winning TeamWorks team competing for the State of Georgia on the national stage. Off to a good start yesterday and completing the project today.

Today, the Construction Management program highlights, Terry Roberts. Terry graduated from GNTC in December 2024. He is a Job Superintendent for P&C Construction out of Chattanooga, TN.

Terry is responsible for overseeing daily construction activities, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with the project plans and specifications. Terry is currently in Alabama working on a project in the Huntsville area.

Congrats, Terry, on a great career in Construction! &TN&AL

Today, the Construction Management program highlights, Alex Bautista. Alex graduated from GNTC in December 2024. He is a foreman for Bock Construction in Chattanooga. Pictured here on the new Chattanooga Lookouts Stadium Construction earlier this year.

Alex oversees the layout and construction of metal stud framing, insulation, drywall installation and waterproofing. Interpreting the plans for layout and guiding the crews through each stage of the build. He coordinates with the project managers and the director of construction, ensuring that the schedule is on target and correct material is delivered and all work is completed accurately, safely and in the correct sequence.

We had a BIG day at GNTC! We hosted a mock SkillsUSA National Competition - practice day for all of the high school State Winners for the State of Georgia in the Construction trades. Masonry, Carpentry, TeamWorks, Plumbing, Electrical Wiring, & Cabinetmaking. We also had three there for post-secondary in TeamWorks for GNTC. Industry partners from several areas were also there giving pointers and best practices to the competitors. A Huge thank you to them! Thanks to Construction Ready for their support with some of the materials and breakfast and lunch. National competition is the first week of June in Atlanta so only a few more weeks to fine tune everything. Getting Georgia ready! !
