Vaxess is thrilled to announce that it’s been recognized on the 2023 Impact/100, an annual list of the world’s most promising impact startups, compiled by Norrsken and its nomination partners.

More than 1.5 million people globally die each year from diseases for which there is a safe and effective vaccine. When you look at why many people remain unvaccinated, three of the main causes are that vaccines are inaccessible, people have needle-phobia, or people are too busy to prioritize a trip to a clinic to receive a vaccine. Vaxess’s vaccine patches have the potential to solve each of these three challenges, while also improving vaccine efficacy compared to an injection via needle and syringe.

Vaxess is thrilled to announce $27 million in Series B funding! RA Capital Management led the round, with additional investors including MIT’s The Engine, Mission BioCapital, and Global Health Investment Corporation.

With this funding, Vaxess will continue to work towards commercializing the company’s shelf-stable, sustained-release vaccine patch. Instead of going to a pharmacy or doctor’s office to receive a vaccine via needle and syringe, Vaxess envisions a future in which you’ll have a vaccine patch mailed right to your door.

Vaxess, a Cambridge startup with ties to Harvard, MIT, and Tufts, raised $27 million to test its technology in clinical trials after developing the idea for more than a decade.
