Dear Family, Friends & Supporters! We hoped we'd be able to thank you during the MassChallenge 2018 award ceremony but unfortunately, we were not one of the cash prize winners. Although disappointing, the past several months have shown us the great opportunity that lies ahead for Kestrel and at the end that might be the ultimate prize.

As a team we continue to be committed to decrease the impact of pests on our food supply and to build a software that will allow future precision agriculture solutions to identify pests accurately and without the need of human intervention. We are excited about Kestrel's life after MassChallenge.

We want to thank our family for believing in us, our mentors for helping us and our other MassChallenge Cohort participants for showing us what it takes to make your dreams a reality.

We look forward to Kestrel's bright future ahead!

Ushering in the next Agricultural Revolution

Last December my co-founder, Oliver, visited the beautiful state of Sinaloa in Mexico and he met with an agricultural specialist there. Oliver found that he was absolutely heartbroken that his farmers had once again had a terrible growing season. The suffered an infestation by a truly sinister pest, the picudo or the pepper weevil.

This pest [pictured to your right] plants its eggs inside the pepper and spreads rapidly and undetected, destroying up to 40% of the crop! An infestation can be disastrous for farmers and their family. Farmers often burn their whole produce rather than risk the chance that an infested specimen reaches your local supermarket. This puts undue strain on their finances for the next season and could force them into bankruptcy.

When he came back the US, we started talking and we quickly agreed that we have to help these farmers anyway we can. We came to the realization that the future of agriculture is in automation and AI. So we decided yo use the most modern tools available to us today to put together a crop protection suite, consisting of autonomous drones fitted with thermal sensors backed by a machine vision algorithm that can detect plant damage and insect activity!

Since then, we have built a prototype, joined MassChallenge, grown our team and done so much more! Follow our page to get the latest and sign up for our newsletter to keep up with news and developments!
