🏆 Basic Systems: 2026 Rookie of the Year 🏆
We’re proud to share that Basic Systems has been recognized with the 2026 Rookie of the Year Award for our first year as a member of a collective self-funded health insurance group - commonly known as a captive.
In a healthcare environment where costs continue to rise at an extraordinary pace, simply renewing the same insurance plan year after year is no longer enough. Basic Systems has taken a more forward-thinking approach: partnering with other like-minded companies to share risk, gain greater control over our healthcare strategy, and work toward providing high-quality benefits in a sustainable way.
Our first year in the captive has been about more than how we finance our health plan. It has also given us new opportunities to be proactive about employee health - emphasizing prevention, early intervention, wellness, and informed healthcare decisions rather than waiting for health issues and costs to escalate.
The Rookie of the Year Award recognizes one outstanding new member that has demonstrated a strong commitment to employee health and wellness. Our efforts this year included:
•Increasing engagement with primary care and encouraging employees to establish and maintain preventive care – to the tune of 95% participation!
•Achieving strong participation in biometric screenings, giving employees valuable insight into their health
•Launching successful wellness and weight management challenges designed to turn healthy choices into sustainable habits
•Providing ongoing health education and preventive care resources
•Helping employees become more informed healthcare consumers, with the goal of making better decisions for themselves and their families
These efforts reflect something we believe strongly at Basic Systems: great benefits aren't just about having an insurance card - they're about creating a healthcare program that helps people stay healthier while being thoughtful and strategic about the rapidly increasing cost of care.
Thank you to every employee and family member who has participated, engaged, and helped make these efforts successful. We’re just getting started, and we look forward to continuing to invest in innovative ways to protect the quality of our benefits, support the health of our employees and families, and build a stronger, more sustainable healthcare program for the future.
