From above, a mountain community looks like it was simply laid out. On the ground, each lot sits at a different elevation than the street in front of it — and the driveway is where that difference gets resolved.
ㅤ
Too steep and a car scrapes at the transition. Too flat and water runs toward the garage instead of away from it. Turn the approach the wrong way and a delivery truck can't make the corner at all.

So each one gets its own answer: where the grade starts, how long the run needs to be, where the water goes, and how the driveway meets the road without a jolt.
