"In today’s dynamic commercial landscape, businesses operating across multiple sites face an intricate web of challenges in managing their systems. Whether it’s a sprawling chain of convenience stores, a vast network of grocery outlets, or critical cold storage facilities, ensuring consistent and optimal refrigeration performance across numerous locations is a monumental task.

The inherent inconsistencies in equipment performance, the prohibitive costs and logistical complexities of manual inspections requiring extensive travel, the inevitable delays in responding to critical issues, and the ever-present risk of compliance gaps all contribute to significant operational inefficiencies and heightened business risks.

These multifaceted challenges unequivocally highlight the urgent need for a sophisticated, integrated, and proactive approach to refrigeration management..."

Nothing speaks more for our refrigeration controls and monitoring solutions than when a new customer raves about our work and employees.

Especially for a public service institution like a food bank, where people rely on the food they provide to survive day-to-day, their refrigeration is literally their lifeblood.

To be able to help them improve their management capabilities of the equipment, as well as optimize it to run better, this is why we do it.

A big THANK YOU to the incredible team from National Resource Management, Inc. who traveled all the way from Boston to help improve our refrigeration systems here at the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank! 💙

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and City of Yuba City, Local Government Community Block Grant funds, this amazing crew spent several days at the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank installing new refrigeration controls on all of our walk-in coolers and freezers. These upgrades will help maximize our refrigeration infrastructure, improve efficiency, and strengthen our ability to safely store fresh, nutritious food for our community.

Not only did they bring incredible expertise, but they were a pleasure to be around! We loved hearing about life in Boston, comparing East Coast and West Coast culture, and working alongside such a dedicated group of people.

Thank you NRM team for your hard work, your kindness, and for helping us build a stronger future for the families we serve. Safe travels home, and come visit California again soon! ☀️

A very common issue that we see in small and medium-sized businesses with walk-in coolers and/or freezers that ends up wreaking havoc on electric bills and the cooling equipment itself: the doors to the walk-ins being left open.

Sometimes it's accidentally left open by delivery drivers, customers, and sometimes it's your own staff who are busy and something distracts them.

And very often, it's hard to know for how long a door has been open or when it happened.

But NRM's Remote Site Manager monitoring tools can visually track — and send you actionable warnings — when a door is open, when it opened, for how long it's been open, and any temperature changes as a result.

In times of oppressive heat and humidity like much of the country has experienced the last few weeks, small businesses with lots of foot traffic and lots of people opening the doors of their walk-in coolers tend to get hammered on their commercial electric bills. Especially businesses like liquor stores.

The constant activity around their system continuously brings heat into the space, keeping the system running at its hardest at all times. Naturally, this uses a lot of energy.

But CoolTrol, NRM's smart refrigeration controls, can solve that issue without you having to lift a finger. CoolTrol adapts your system to call for cooling ONLY when it's needed, delivering year-round hashtag .

It also has a wealth of features at your fingertips, such as a 20-minute Safe Shutdown button when employees are working in the walk-in, a Bypass feature for easy troubleshooting of the equipment, and more.

The benefits of embracing -driven predictive maintenance are multifaceted and profound. Businesses experience significantly reduced downtime, as maintenance can be scheduled proactively, minimizing disruptions to operations.

This means fewer emergency calls, less overtime for technicians, and most importantly, uninterrupted business continuity, which is paramount in today’s competitive market. Equipment life is extended, as components are serviced or replaced before they incur irreparable damage, maximizing return on investment. By preventing catastrophic failures, businesses can defer costly capital expenditures on new equipment, freeing up resources for other strategic initiatives.

Substantial energy savings are realized through optimized system performance and the prevention of inefficient operation.

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) are a relatively new technology entering the industry and , with their most common uses currently being in traditional HVAC systems. But they're gaining steam as a proven way to optimize industrial refrigeration compressors and are being adopted in many industries.

What is a VFD exactly? A VFD is an electronic device that controls the speed of an AC electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage of its power supply. Instead of allowing a compressor to cycle on and off at full power, a VFD enables it to run at a continuously variable speed, precisely matching the real-time cooling demand of the system.

Studies and real-world applications consistently demonstrate that VFD retrofits can achieve a remarkable 16–20% reduction in compressor energy consumption.

As 90-degree weather blankets New England over the next few days, it's a perfect time for a reminder that your system is going to be working extra hard for the next couple months to keep your product cold and at safe temperatures.

But if your facility has hours when there's no activity in the cold space, your system doesn't still need to be running at 100% to maintain temperatures.

That's where NRM's controls can be a tremendous boon to your company. The retrofit smart controls adapt your system to cool the space only when is required — so running at full capacity 24/7/365 is no longer necessary. This preserves your equipment, reduces consumption, and lowers your commercial electric bill.

The controls also track and log temperatures for precise recordkeeping to adhere to laws and regulations.
