🌴❄️ SHOULD YOU TURN YOUR AC OFF WHEN YOU LEAVE? ❄️🌴
Short answer: In Southwest Florida… probably NOT! 😂
We get it—you’re leaving the house for a few hours and think, “Why cool an empty house? I’ll just turn the AC off and save money!”
Sounds logical, right? Well… Florida has other plans. 🥵☀️
When you completely shut off your AC, your home can quickly heat up and humidity can climb. That means when you finally turn the system back on, your AC has to work much harder to bring the temperature and humidity back under control.
And here in SWFL, humidity is the real troublemaker. 👀
Instead of turning your AC OFF, consider raising your thermostat a few degrees while you're away. For example, if you normally keep your home at 74°F, you might set it around 78°F–80°F while you're gone.
✅ Reduces unnecessary runtime
✅ Helps control indoor humidity
✅ Keeps your home from becoming a tropical rainforest 🌴
✅ Makes it easier for your system to get your home comfortable again
💡 BONUS TIP: If you're going away for several days, don't just shut everything down and hope for the best. Your home still needs humidity control—even when you're not there.
