What does life outside the office look like at RFE?

Ski days, trail miles, time on the water, weekends camping, and making the most of everything Western Colorado has to offer.

For our team, where we live is a pretty big part of why we love where we work.

A sinkhole opened up on Main Street in Carbondale early Tuesday, July 21, creating an unexpected challenge right in the heart of town.

Thanks to a quick response and coordinated repair efforts, the issue was addressed and Main Street reopened by Friday.

A great example of how quickly our local teams can come together when infrastructure needs immediate attention.

A lot of people think engineering is about building new things.

In reality, a significant part of our work is helping communities maintain, improve, and extend infrastructure that already exists.

Sometimes the most important projects are the ones nobody notices when they're finished.

Progress at the lumberyard. A look at how things have been taking shape on site over the past few weeks. It’s always exciting to see plans come to life one step at a time.

Why we live here.

When the workday ends, there’s always something waiting outside. From hiking and biking to skiing, fishing, and everything in between, we’re lucky to call the Roaring Fork Valley home.

A smarter look inside 7.2 miles of pipeline.

We recently helped the Town of Pagosa Springs assess an important force main using SmartBall technology. The blue ball you see in the video is packed with sensors that travel through the pipeline, helping identify potential weak points along the way.

With nearly 800 feet of elevation change across the line, this assessment gives the Town valuable information to make informed decisions about future improvements.

Project Lookback: 8th Street in Carbondale

This project focused on making a busy local street safer and easier to navigate for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

We designed intersection realignments, a new pedestrian crossing, improved drainage, utility relocations, and a raised crosswalk at the Rio Grande Trail, all while minimizing impacts to nearby residents and existing trees.

A great example of thoughtful infrastructure right here in our own community.

Exciting progress in downtown Aspen!

Construction is officially underway on the Aspen Armory Hall redevelopment, transforming the historic building into a new food hall and community gathering space.

We’re looking forward to seeing this piece of Aspen history take on its next chapter.

Check out Aspen Community Voice for more on the project and what’s ahead.

The Aspen Armory Hall redevelopment project, located at 130 S. Galena St, has officially started construction in order to renovate the space into a food hall and event venue for the community.
