Nobody walks onto a job site expecting to get hurt. But safe jobs don’t happen on hope alone.

They happen because people are trained to spot hazards, speak up, and look out for each other.

Local 25 members complete extensive safety training, including OSHA courses, fall protection, confined space, rigging, and welding safety. And it doesn’t stop once the apprenticeship ends. Safety is something we keep working on, job after job.

The goal is simple: everyone goes home to their family at the end of the day.

That’s good for our members, and it’s good for every contractor and project owner who works with us.

Data centers may power , cloud computing and digital services, but they depend on skilled tradespeople to build and maintain the infrastructure behind the technology.

Focus NJ notes that data center investment supports construction activity, infrastructure development and employment throughout the wider economy.

That growth represents another opportunity to put highly trained workers on major projects that are shaping New Jersey’s future.

The technology is new, but the need for a skilled workforce is not.

That was the total employment contribution to New Jersey’s data center industry in 2024, according to Focus NJ.

The conversation about data centers often focuses on how many people work inside a completed facility. That leaves out the much larger network of construction workers, contractors, suppliers and other businesses involved in building and supporting their infrastructure.

It's important to look at the bigger picture.

More investment means more opportunities for the skilled trades to build the systems New Jersey’s digital economy depends on.

Data centers don’t build themselves.

Behind every facility is a skilled workforce responsible for the infrastructure and systems that make the digital economy possible.

And there’s a broader employment impact that goes beyond the people working inside a finished data center. A recent Focus NJ report found that every direct data center industry job supports 4.5 to 6 additional jobs across the wider economy, including construction and related industries.

For New Jersey, that means more opportunity for skilled trades and a strong pipeline of work tied to the state’s growing digital infrastructure.
