In 1985, a joint venture partnership was formed with the managing directors of BEGA in Menden, Germany, so the entire BEGA portfolio could be brought to the U.S. This partnership was the origin of BEGA North America, a U.S. We are now a multimillion dollar corporation servicing all of North and Central America from our state-of-the-art manufacturing and corporate facility just south of Santa Barbara in Carpinteria, CA. We proudly employ over 145 people in this setting.

BEGA illuminates iconic architecture around the world. A place we hear mentioned often is one of Germany's most celebrated landmarks: Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria (pronounced "NOY-shvahn-shtine").

Lighting design specialist, Walter Bamberger, and his engineering firm created a lighting solution that honors the castle's history and highlights the many architectural details at night. Bamberger says, “The intricacy and attention to detail of the architecture is both fascinating and challenging. The big challenge was to come up with a lighting design that has the same impact on the observer from many miles away.”

Bamberger’s solution: to use light and shadow to their maximum effect and highlight the details, as though Neuschwanstein Castle were coated in a fine layer of icing. Targeted placement of shadows makes the castle look even more lifelike at night. With their wide range of distribution and light output options, BEGA small- and large-scale floodlights were the perfect solution for creating spatial depth and diverse illumination for the project.
