🍫 SEIEC Small Business Spotlight: Chocolate Factory Inc

For nearly 50 years, The Chocolate Factory in Golconda has been serving up homemade chocolates, ice cream and plenty of sweet memories for generations of Southern Illinois families.

What began in the 1970s with chocolate made and sold from a camper has grown into a longtime Pope County favorite, while remaining a true family business. Today, many of their chocolates and fillings are still made in-house, including customer favorites like Terrapins, Tiger Butter, fudge and more.

Beyond the treats, The Chocolate Factory has spent decades supporting the community, providing local jobs and creating the kind of friendly experience that keeps customers coming back generation after generation.

Applications are now open for SouthEastern Illinois Electric Cooperative’s 2026–2027 Classroom Empowerment Grants!

The program provides funding for innovative classroom projects, educational materials and learning opportunities. Since 2006, SEIEC has awarded $82,200 in Classroom Empowerment Grants to schools throughout our service area.

📚 Public and private K–12 teachers and administrators within a Touchstone Energy cooperative service area are eligible to apply.

They are able do this through a technique called "gloving"! Using specially insulated gloves, sleeves, and equipment, our line crews can safely perform certain maintenance on energized lines.
