The importance/benefits of having a CAD design program in construction:
• More accurate layouts: Set exact dimensions, angles, elevations, and clearances before work begins
• Clearer drawings: Create plans, elevations, sections, and detail views that show how parts fit together
• Easier changes: Update a design and share the revised drawing without redrawing everything by hand
• Better coordination: Compare systems such as steel, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical layouts to catch conflicts early. 3D or BIM tools can make this easier
• Improved fabrication and installation: Provide shop drawings and measurements for items like structural steel, piping, and custom components
• Fewer mistakes and less rework: Help crews spot problems before materials are ordered or work starts
• Useful quantities: Some programs can help estimate areas, lengths, or material quantities, though those figures still need review
• Better project records: Keep drawings organized by project, date, and revision so the field team can find the current version
