Meet the Real Supervisors of Carson Valley Heating & Air 🐕

Every good HVAC company needs quality supervisors… and we’ve got two.

Zeus is our senior field supervisor.

At 9 years old, this Belgian Malinois takes his job VERY seriously. Zeus is not much for meeting strangers — he’s focused on security, jobsite awareness, and making sure the team stays on task at all times.

If you see Zeus on a job, it’s best to let him work uninterrupted. He has important responsibilities, including:

• Borking at suspicious activity
• Randomly “woo”-ing throughout the day
• Tripling everyone's daily step goal
• Supervising every tool movement with intense judgment

Zeus believes hard work builds character, and frankly, he thinks everyone else should work harder too.

Then there’s Walnut.

Walnut is the youngest member of the Carson Valley crew at just one year old, and he has a very different approach to his workday.

While Zeus handles security, Walnut specializes in customer relations. If Walnut had his way, he would gladly abandon all responsibilities, become someone’s lap blanket, and accept compliments and back massages for the remainder of the work day.

He’s an underachiever.
A ladies’ man.
And fully prepared to love you for the entire duration of your install, no extra charge.

Between the two of them, morale stays high around here.

Listen… owning a small business comes with a lot of moving parts, and social media is a whole different ballgame for us.

What we do know is good old-fashioned snail mail.

So if you live in Skamania and Klickitat county, or you live in Cascade Locks, there’s a decent chance you were recently blessed with one of the advertisements we proudly hand-picked ourselves.

Was it slightly unhinged? Maybe.
Did we laugh while choosing it? Absolutely.

At the end of the day, we believe HVAC doesn’t always have to be boring.

For reference on just how hard we’re trying over here, we also included one of last year’s advertisements in this post. And honestly? We’ll probably do it again next year too. And the year after that, as long as our advertising company invites us back.

Heat Pump vs. Furnace + AC: what’s the difference?

We get this question a lot, so here’s the simple version:

A lot of homes have a furnace + AC
→ Furnace heats your home in winter
→ AC cools it in summer
(Two separate systems doing two jobs)

A heat pump is a little different: it’s a 2-in-1 system
→ Heats your home in winter
→ Cools your home in summer
(All in one unit)

Instead of generating heat, it transfers heat from one place to another, which is why it can be so efficient.

The question we hear a lot-- so which one’s better?

It depends on your home, your budget, and what you’re looking for.

We are seeing more homes start to move toward heat pump systems as technology improves and energy standards continue to evolve.

That said, many homes — especially older ones with access to natural gas — still use furnace + AC systems, and they can be a great option.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade your current system or explore switching to a heat pump, there are good options either way.

Meet the Owner – Brandon

This is Brandon, owner of Carson Valley Heating and Air.

Brandon is an 11-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard and has been working in the HVAC industry for over 20 years. He’s spent most of his life working in the trades and has always had a strong connection to hands-on work and serving others.

In 2023, Brandon and his fiancée started Carson Valley Heating and Air with a goal of providing reliable, professional HVAC service to the community they call home.

Brandon was raised in the Stevenson/Carson area but spent many years living in different states while serving in the military, including time deployed in the Middle East. After years away, coming home and starting a local business felt like the perfect way to give back to the community that shaped him.

His goal with Carson Valley Heating and Air is simple: provide quality work you can trust, while treating every customer like a neighbor, friend, or family member.

When he’s not working, Brandon enjoys restoring classic cars, supporting local charities, golfing, hunting, fishing, and relaxing around a bonfire with family and friends. He’s also usually in the middle of finishing a projects that his fiancée convinced him would be “fun.”

This customer called and said this unit was frozen up and not working. I’d say that was a bit of an understatement! Unfortunately, even on new equipment , control boards sometimes can go bad, leaving this as the result. We worked hard to thaw out the unit and pulled it apart to find the culprit to get this household back up and running!
