Playing forklift mechanic/tire monkey today.

My previous patches lasted over a year, I just forgot to order the replacement tube. Thanks Jessica Wild for making a part run for me

Stump grinder rust repair. I'm still not certain how a stump grinder got this rusty. Maybe the previous owner used it to grind salt 🤷

Anyways...the operator console support arm was beyond reasonable repair and had to be held up with ratchet straps. I'd originally intended on just patching it up, but there was nothing really left to weld to, so I just started fresh.

Just over a 55" long part on a 48x33" cut area plasma table.

It took a little bit of work to get it set up, but wasn't too bad overall. Now to see just how hard the flanges are to bend by hand

18 year old me would be super impressed with my first attempt at this method of bending sheet metal. 32 year old me knows I could get better results in half the time if I bought a big press brake 🤣🤣

Just over 25ft worth of weld beads on this sub-assembly. Definitely glad to be running dual-shield wire again after running hardwire on the smoker. Luckily these pieces are small enough they can easily be positioned so that every weld can be made flat with the heat cranked up.

Next up on this project is prep and paint. After that it'll get mounted on the customer's trailer and start making some delicious BBQ.

This is a perfect example of why you should never make assumptions while troubleshooting a problem.

This fuse, despite looking perfect, has zero continuity. The worst part is that it didn't fail suddenly. It's for the start signal on my forklift, which has been intermittent for a couple of weeks. I assumed the starter solenoid was acting up because it mimicked those symptoms perfectly.

Luckily I had the wherewithal to jumper around the start switch and test the starter before buying a new one, but even then I assumed it would be a problem with the neutral safety switch.

Huge thanks to B & H Industrial Service in Joplin for helping me out of a bind.

The pressure regulator on my forklift gave out yesterday and the forklift was completely unusable. Luckily they had some NOS rebuild kits on hand, so I was able to get it rebuilt and running. Now I just need to track down an issue with the ignition switch or neutral safety relay so I can get back to real work.
