Happy Labor Day from all of us at TZ Electric!

Our electricians, our HVAC crew, our plumbers, and the office team who keeps every one of those trucks pointed in the right direction — this whole company is people from around here, taking care of their neighbors.

Thank you to our team, and to everybody in the Hudson Valley who's had us out this year. Enjoy the long weekend!

"I don't want one of those big boxes in my living room."

We hear it constantly, and it's usually based on a system somebody saw years ago.

Today's indoor units are slim, quiet, and come in wall-mounted, ceiling-recessed, and floor-standing styles. Ceiling cassettes sit nearly flush. Floor units tuck under a window like a radiator.

Swipe through some real Hudson Valley homes we've worked in. If the look has been what's holding you back, we'd love to show you the options!

Before the space heaters come out: is your electrical panel ready for winter?

Older panels in this area often weren't built for the way we live now. Add a heat pump, an EV charger, and a few winter appliances, and a panel that used to be fine can start running out of room.

Our team can take a look and tell you honestly where you stand. Sometimes the answer is that everything's fine — that's a perfectly good outcome too!

September is National Preparedness Month, and around here that timing is no accident.

Last fall's windstorm left thousands of homes across the Hudson Valley without power, and plenty of them were dark for days. Storm season is still ahead of us.

A standby generator watches for the outage and starts on its own. No cords, no gas cans, no standing outside in the rain.

If you've been thinking about it, this is the season to have the conversation — not the week the storm hits. We're happy to come out and talk through what would actually make sense for your home. Free estimate, no pressure!

Last day of August!

The kids are heading back, the mornings have that first bit of cool in them, and your heating system is closer than it feels.

If something didn't work right last winter — a room that never warmed up, a system that ran constantly, a noise you kept meaning to ask about — now is a far better time to find out than the first cold week of November.

Thanks for a busy summer, Hudson Valley. We'll see you in the fall!

If there's an extension cord running out a window at your place all summer, this one's for you!

Extension cords are made for temporary jobs. Most of the ones we see aren't temporary anymore — they've been the permanent solution for two or three seasons.

Outdoor-rated outlets are weather-sealed and GFCI protected. The indoor outlet you're running that cord from is neither. And anything permanent, like a pool pump, really wants its own circuit rather than sharing one.

Deck, patio, garage, shed, the far corner of the yard where the tools always end up. It's a small job, and it removes a hazard you've probably stopped noticing.

Give us a call and we'll sort it out!

Last week we talked about where fuel prices are headed. A bunch of you asked the fair follow-up: fine, but what would switching actually look like for my house?

Here's the whole process. We look at what you spent on fuel last winter, we look at your home, and we come back with a real comparison: what you're spending now against what a heat pump would cost to run. Sometimes the math says switch. Sometimes it says keep what you have for now. You get the honest answer either way.

If your home qualifies, Central Hudson's Clean Heat program currently offers up to $8,000 on qualifying whole-home systems, and our office files the paperwork for you.

DM us MINI and we'll run your numbers, free.

The best week to book us is usually the week nobody's thinking about us!

Late August sits right between the cooling rush and the heating rush. Our schedule opens up, which means an unhurried install and a crew that isn't racing the weather to get to the next call.

Same work either way. It's just a nicer experience for everybody when there's room to breathe.

If there's a project you've been putting off, this is a good stretch to get it on the books.

Renting your place out this summer? Your guests will mention the air conditioning in the review.

They almost never mention it when it's working. They always mention it when it isn't — and a hot upstairs bedroom is one of the most common complaints in a summer rental anywhere in the Catskills.

Room-by-room control means guests can get comfortable without running the whole house at 65 degrees on your electric bill. And you can see and set it from your phone, wherever you happen to be.

Worth sorting out before next season's bookings open. We're glad to come take a look!

Got a hot tub coming? It needs more than an outlet.

A proper install means its own dedicated circuit, correct GFCI protection, and a disconnect within reach of the tub. Not an extension cord, and not the existing outlet on the deck.

We do this work licensed and permitted, so it's right the first time and it's right if you ever sell the house.

Getting one delivered soon? Talk to us before it arrives — it's a much easier job when we can plan it in advance!
