What is fastener strength? Fastener strength refers to how much mechanical stress a fastener such as a bolt can handle before deforming or breaking.

The three most important fastener strength metrics are:

✅ Tensile strength - The maximum axial force a fastener can withstand before it breaks.

✅Yield strength - The load at which a fastener begins to deform permanently (plastic deformation).

✅Proof load - the highest load a fastener can sustain without permanently deforming used as the safe working load.
