Please join us in welcoming Bryan Kubik to Emergent Architecture as our new Market Leader for Eastern Iowa. 🙌

Bryan brings more than 30 years of experience across banking, construction, and the AEC industry, plus a strong reputation for building relationships, opening doors, and helping ideas move from “what if?” to “let’s make it happen.” Many in the Corridor may know him from his time with Knutson Construction and Conlon Construction, where he helped lead meaningful projects and partnerships across the region.

At Emergent, Bryan will focus on growing our presence throughout the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Corridor, strengthening relationships, and helping create new opportunities across Eastern Iowa. He knows this market, he knows the people, and he understands that great projects start with trust.

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys fishing, golf, and serving his community, including his involvement on the YMCA board. He is also a loyal sports fan, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, Dallas Cowboys, and Edmonton Oilers.

We are excited to have Bryan on the team as we continue building relationships, shaping communities, and creating spaces that serve real life across Eastern Iowa.

We are excited to welcome our interns Kate, Beth, and Amber to the team this week! Kate is joining the Cedar Rapids office, while Beth and Amber are spending the summer with our Cedar Falls team.

Earlier this month, we celebrated a big day in Decorah with the groundbreaking for the new Decorah PK-2 Elementary School! 🧡

We talk a lot about wanting our work to make an impact, and this project brings that idea to life in a real way. For the kids who will walk through these doors, this new school will become part of their everyday world, shaping their first years of learning, friendships, confidence, and curiosity.

We’re so grateful to Decorah Community School District, the Decorah community, Miron Construction Co., Inc., and our design team partners at Confluence - Landscape Architecture, McClure, Raker Rhodes Engineering, KEDbluestone, and Clevenger Associates for helping bring this vision to such an exciting milestone.

We are excited to celebrate our Cedar Falls office and a big next step for our team. We have invested in a permanent space here, and it reflects our commitment to Cedar Falls and the communities we serve across the region. We are proud to call this place home.

That’s a wrap on Hestra Gloves Boulder.

Located on Pearl Street Mall, this 1,500-square-foot retail space marks HESTRA’s first North American store, and we were proud to help bring it to life. From early coordination with the HESTRA team, psretail in Sweden, and Rize Construction, to the details that had to come together across time zones and shipping schedules, this project was a true team effort.

The finished space brings HESTRA’s brand into a physical environment that feels crisp, thoughtful, and ready for real life. Every fixture, finish, and lighting decision had a role to play in creating a store that works beautifully for the people who will use it every day.

We’re grateful to HESTRA for trusting us with this milestone, and to our project partners for helping turn a big international collaboration into a successful Boulder storefront.

Congratulations, HESTRA. We’re excited to see your gloves on Pearl Street.

Please join us in welcoming Brian Stark to Emergent Architecture! As our new Senior Project Manager, Brian brings a thoughtful, detail-driven approach to the work. He is especially drawn to the technical side of architecture and drafting, with a focus on making sure each design is constructible and aligned with the owner’s needs.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys shooting, fishing, spending time with family, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

If he were to teleport anywhere right now? Back to Ireland, in a pub.

We are excited to have him on the team. 🥳🧡

Construction is moving along on the 5th and 6th grade addition at Mary Welsh Elementary, and these spaces are starting to take shape.

The first photo shows the main collaboration area looking toward the clerestory windows. The second is one of the general classrooms that will soon be filled with students.

Right now, it is all structure and studs, but you can already see the scale of the rooms and how the light will come in. It is exciting to watch a project move from drawings on paper to spaces you can walk through.

We are grateful to be working with the Williamsburg Community School District and our project partners,KEDbluestone, McClure, IMEG, and Miron Construction Co., Inc.
