We're proud to share that our Founder & CEO, Jodi van Haren, has been named the 2025 Contractor of the Year by the Michigan Plumbing & Mechanical Contractors Association.

This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to the mechanical contracting industry, their association, and the communities they serve.

For more than 25 years, Jodi has led Advantage Mechanical-Refrigeration Inc with a focus on doing the right thing, building strong relationships, and creating opportunities for others in our industry.

While this award recognizes an individual, it is really a reflection of the people who have helped build AMR over the past 25 years. We are grateful for our employees, customers, trade partners, and community who have been part of this journey.

A lot can change in 25 years. The projects got bigger, the fleet grew, and the kids got a lot taller.

In honor of our 25th anniversary, we recreated one of our favorite photos from AMR’s home office - driveway days. Back when the “office” was at home and the kids knew to shhhh when the business phone rang. 😊

The van is newer, the shop is a whole lot bigger, and these days Aaron is AMR’s VP of Business Operations.... but both Aaron and Alexa have been around this company since the very beginning.

We may not be able to take credit for the design 😉... but we did call it in an earlier post... these bathrooms are GREAT! 👏

Proud that Advantage Mechanical-Refrigeration Inc had a hand in bringing this part of Acrisure Amphitheater to life, installing more than 100 plumbing fixtures throughout the venue’s restrooms. What looked like “just bathrooms” kept our plumbing team busy for several weeks, and it’s fun seeing them getting some well-deserved public praise! 😄

Big credit to the designers for creating a space people are actually talking about.

Adam Edwards started with Advantage Mechanical-Refrigeration Inc as an apprentice in 2004. Today, he’s leading our operations in Florida!

Aside from a quick detour early on, Adam has been a mainstay of the AMR team for two decades. As we celebrate 25 years, we’re grateful for the people who have grown right alongside us. Adam’s journey from a brand new service apprentice to leadership is a testament to the career, and the family, we’ve built together over the last quarter-century.

There’s just something really cool about being part of projects like this.

AMR is proud to be handling the plumbing work on the Krause Memorial Library expansion in Rockford.... from underground plumbing all the way through finish fixtures.

Public projects always mean a little more because they become part of the community for generations, and this one is especially meaningful since several of our team members are from Rockford or still call it home.

Originally built in 1933, the library saw additions in 1963 and 1986.... and now, 40 years later, it’s growing again.

One of the neatest parts of projects like this is seeing the old and new come together. The new addition is being built right around the existing structure, and in some of these photos you can see parts of the old exterior now sitting inside the new building.

Look closely and you might even spot some old plaid wallpaper still hanging on the walls.... our guess is it’s been there since the 1963 addition.

We love being part of projects that help preserve local history while building something new for the future. Proud to have a hand in this one!

We’ve grown, but our commitment hasn’t changed.

It’s often said that a business is only as strong as its people.

When we started AMR 25 years ago, that "people" count was two. The first year’s books were done by hand, and our primary goal was simply to keep the doors open, take care of our customers, and build something we could be proud of.

By 2006 (first photo), we were beginning to grow our field crew, and by 2021 (second photo), that small operation had evolved into a dedicated team tackling complex mechanical projects across the region. Today, our 2026 office team (third photo) represents just a portion of the 55 professionals who keep us moving forward every day.

To our team, past and present: Thank you for the late nights, the early mornings, and the dedication that built this reputation. We can’t wait to bring everyone together this June to celebrate this journey!
