A factory tour can give a student a whole new answer to “What do you want to do?”

This Manufacturing Week, manufacturers have opened their doors to young people, inviting them to explore production floors, try hands-on activities, and meet the people behind the products.

Today, on Manufacturing Day, we’re celebrating those connections.

Seeing CNC machines, automation, and engineering in action makes manufacturing careers tangible. So does discovering that something you designed on a screen can become something you can hold, assemble, and test.

We’ve had the opportunity to help students experience that firsthand. When Team WSU Vancougs from Washington State University Vancouver worked with PartsBadger, we helped turn their project design into machined components they could build with and learn from.

That’s what makes these opportunities matter: giving young people room to ask questions, explore their interests, and discover where they could fit in manufacturing.
