Protecting your pavement starts long before the first snowflake hits. ❄️

Many regions are classified as Severe Weather Zones, areas where concrete is exposed to freezing temperatures, moisture, and the use of deicing salts. Even brand-new concrete is vulnerable during its first year because it’s still holding water and actively curing.

Here’s what that means for your property:
• Surface breakdown like pitting, spalling, and scaling
• Deicer damage (even when salt is tracked in by vehicles or foot traffic)
• Expansion + contraction stress during temperature swings
• Color variations in new or repaired concrete—normal due to natural materials and different curing rates

Bottom line: Concrete is tough, but winter can be tougher!

👉 DCPS helps property teams stay ahead of damage with proactive maintenance and a clear winter-readiness plan. Let’s protect your investment before the cold weather arrives.

Fall rain can expose waterproofing problems that may have gone unnoticed during the drier summer months.

Aging coatings, deteriorated sealants, failed joints, and other vulnerable areas can give water a path into garages, occupied spaces, and the structure itself. By the time you see the leak, the problem may already be well underway.

Taking a proactive look at your property before wetter weather arrives can help identify areas that need maintenance and reduce the risk of more extensive water damage later.

Our Waterproofing & Concrete Restoration team can help assess areas of concern and determine the right next step. [email protected]

Last week, our Snow team came together for a hands-on training day focused on getting crews ready for the season ahead.

Teams rotated through stations covering safety and PPE, equipment operation, snowrators, snow blowers, skid steers, sectionals, spreaders, and more. Just as important, every station reinforced the safety practices and preparation that help our crews perform well when winter weather arrives.

A lot goes into being ready for the first storm, and days like this give our teams the chance to learn, practice, ask questions, and prepare together.

Thanks to everyone who helped organize the event and to all of our managers and crews who participated.

Fall has officially arrived!

As summer comes to an end, it's time to start thinking about cool-season color. Pansies and violas are the go-to annuals for fall planting—and for good reason. These hardy flowers thrive in cooler temperatures, can survive frosts, and continue to bloom through multiple seasons.

When planted in the fall, they deliver vibrant color through autumn, pop up periodically in the winter, and burst back to life in spring—giving you long-lasting value and beauty.

Winter has a way of finding the weak spots in a roof.

Small openings, aging materials, drainage issues, and other areas of concern can become much harder to deal with once snow, ice, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles arrive.

A professional roof inspection and audit can help identify those vulnerabilities while there’s still time to address them proactively and build a plan for anything that may need attention.

Before winter settles in, make sure you know what condition your roof is in.

Not every property needs the same sweeping plan.

That’s why DCPS gives property teams more flexibility to build a scope around what matters most to their site. You choose your service frequency, set your budget, and prioritize the areas that need the most attention. Our Sweeping team builds the plan around those priorities.

That could mean focusing first on drive lanes and parking stalls, then curb lines, corners and dead zones, islands and medians, or other specialty areas. Work is completed in priority order within the allotted service time, helping you direct your maintenance budget where it can make the biggest impact.

Your property. Your priorities. Your plan.

Our Plant & Tree Health Care team has kicked off a two-week pruning project at a Denver university.

Working on an active campus means navigating students, faculty, busy traffic, and nearby construction while keeping safety and efficiency top of mind.

We're proud to have earned the trust of the institution's Facilities team and appreciate the opportunity to put our team's expertise to work on their campus.

Late summer is the ideal time to inspect and maintain elevated decks and balconies. Sun, rain, and changing temperatures can all take a toll—especially if waterproofing systems are aging or compromised.

DCPS provides expert waterproofing solutions that protect elevated decks and balconies from moisture intrusion, structural damage, and costly repairs.

Don’t wait for signs of damage—get ahead of it this before fall. Contact [email protected] to schedule your inspection and waterproofing service.

Summer break creates a narrow window for school districts to tackle major property improvements, but the campuses don’t necessarily stop being active.

For this multi-site project, DCPS coordinated asphalt, concrete, playground resurfacing, striping, and specialty pavement work across three school campuses while working around summer programs, events, and community use. When the concrete scope increased shortly before construction began, our team adjusted the schedule, added weekend work, and phased operations to keep everything moving within the district’s limited summer construction window.

The work included concrete, curb and gutter repairs, mill and overlay, playground resurfacing, restored court markings, and targeted root mitigation to help protect new pavement.
It was a great example of what coordinated planning across multiple scopes can accomplish when the schedule is tight and the property needs to remain accessible.
