The older your HVAC system gets, the more expensive seeing how long it will last can become.

Air conditioners and heat pumps average about 10 years of service. Furnaces and boilers are closer to 15. Reaching that age does not automatically mean replacement, but declining efficiency, inconsistent comfort and frequent repairs carry more weight once you are there.
