🚨Central Illinois Flooding Update 🚨
After a weekend of widespread flooding across Central Illinois, the work is far from over. Our crews have been working around the clock, and with so many homes and businesses affected at once, the demand for drying equipment has been tremendous.
To help meet that demand, a semi of additional drying equipment arrived from our BluSky team in Michigan, members of our National Team pulled in over the weekend, and together we continue to get equipment deployed as quickly as possible.
If you're still waiting for help or you've already removed the standing water yourself, don't assume your basement is dry just because the water is gone. Moisture can remain in materials long after they appear dry.
While you're waiting:
✅ Keep dehumidifiers and fans running and increase airflow where possible
✅ Remove and discard wet carpet pad if you can safely do so. Yes, the carpet itself may be salvageable depending on the water source, how long it was wet and its condition - we can help determine if it can be saved
✅ Remove wet contents and keep furniture and belongings elevated
Mold can begin growing on damp materials in as little as 24–48 hours, so getting moisture under control quickly is important. So if you're still waiting on service, starting the drying process with dehumidifiers, fans and increased airflow - along with removing wet pad and wet contents - can help limit further damage until professional help arrives.
If you've handled the cleanup and drying yourself, we still recommend having a restoration professional check affected materials with moisture-detection equipment. What feels dry to the touch isn't always dry underneath. Finished basements especially need a close eye. Water can remain trapped behind drywall, beneath flooring and in insulation even when everything on the surface looks and feels dry.
