Here's what kills them early:

🔹 Tall grass, weeds, or shrubs within 2 feet — restricts airflow
🔹 Cottonwood, palm fluff, and dust caked on the fins
🔹 Birds, lizards, rodents nesting inside
🔹 Direct sun with zero shade (yes, shade helps — but don't enclose it)
🔹 Pool chemicals on the fins — corrodes the coil from the outside in

A 5-minute rinse with the garden hose (NOT a pressure washer) every couple weeks adds years to the unit.

Heading out of town this summer? Don't make the two mistakes most Arizona homeowners make.

Mistake #1: Turning the AC OFF entirely.
When your house hits 110°+ inside, drywall flexes, paint blisters, wood floors warp, and electronics fail. The "savings" cost you thousands.

Mistake #2: Leaving it set to 74° while gone.

Yes, your AC unit can literally freeze — even when it's 110° outside.

When we get a call about ice on the copper line or a system that suddenly stopped cooling, it's almost always one of these:

🔹 Dirty air filter — restricts airflow, coil drops below freezing
🔹 Low refrigerant — pressure drop causes the coil to ice over
🔹 Blocked return vents — same airflow problem, different cause
🔹 Failing blower motor — not moving enough air across the coil
🔹 Closed registers — yes, closing too many vents can freeze your system

If you see ice, turn the system OFF. Running it frozen burns out the compressor — and that's a $2,500+ problem instead of a $200 fix.

Set it to FAN ONLY for an hour, then call us.
