Meet Rina Laios, the energy coordinator at our Joliet operations since early 2025. She began working full time for ExxonMobil in 2021 at the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant after completing 3 internships at the Baton Rouge Complex.

A Purdue Chemical Engineering graduate from Columbus, Ohio, Rina enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborating with Operators who have helped her to better understand how things work in the field and develop creative solutions to solve problems together. She appreciates how a large company like ExxonMobil gives engineers a variety of career opportunities and likes working in global teams.

Rina credits her parents as the most influential people in her life as they taught her to work hard, focus on what you can control and for providing her opportunities to grow - from competitive swimming at a young age, meeting new people through countless summer camps and traveling the world. At work, she is motivated by her ExxonMobil colleagues as they collaborate to deliver in high-performance teams.

Her career advice to others is to be an assertive learner, be curious, use your network, come prepared, and ask questions. Her favorite quote, “Happiness: a feeling that is created within you and by you. No one else can construct it and hand it to you.”
