This week is National Lightning Safety Awareness Week (June 21-27).

Lightning is one of the most underestimated weather hazards. It can strike from more than 15 miles away, and delays in seeking shelter are among the leading causes of lightning-related injuries and fatalities. Whether you are wrapping up a job site, cheering on your kids from the sidelines, or relaxing in the backyard, the risk is real and the response is the same.

At Diversified CPC, safety is a core value, not a seasonal reminder. We encourage everyone to take this week seriously. Review your storm protocols, know where your safe zones are, and share what you know with the people around you.

Heading to Foam Expo? Be sure to catch Bill Frauenheim, Vice President of Operations at Diversified CPC, in two important sessions.

On June 23 at 11:00 AM, Bill will participate in the Regulatory Roundtable and advise attendees about recent NFPA code activity. The session also covers the HFC-to-HFO transition, PFAS regulations, flame retardant challenges under TCPP, and various regulatory updates.

Bill will also present during FOAMS’ Session 5: Foams in Industrial Applications on June 25. His presentation, "New Safety Standards for Expanding Insulation Foam Products Packaged in Pressurized Cylinders," will explore evolving safety requirements impacting the industry.

When an alarm sounds, do you know where to go?

An emergency can escalate from bad to worse when alarms, shutdown systems, or evacuation plans are not fully understood or followed. For those working in plant environments, this knowledge is vital. Know exactly where Emergency Shutdown (ESD) stations are located and how to use them. Also, when an emergency occurs, always consider wind direction when determining your evacuation route to avoid exposure and move toward a safe area.
