The Southeast Region Chapter of APT includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Since its inception, the chapter has maintained a rigorous agenda. In addition to chapter meetings, members managed the APT display at the 2004 Masters of the Building Arts Festival in Charleston; hosted the 2006 APT Annual C
onference “Crossroads in Heritage Conservation” in Atlanta; and provided on-the-ground organization for an APT Workshop on Non-Destructive Evaluation Techniques in Charleston in 2008. The regional chapter has sponsored a program entitled "Historic Preservation for Building Industry Professionals" in conjunction with the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation's Industry Council, where we also helped organize several hands-on workshops; participated in the International Preservation Trades Network Workshop's annual gathering and the Alabama Preservation Conference in Mobile; and contributed to the student scholarship program. Like its parent organization, the Southeast Region Chapter is a non-profit, educational organization that encourages, promotes, and advances research, training, and the dissemination of information relating to preservation technology and the preservation of buildings, sites, and objects in the southeastern United States. The chapter is in the process of developing technical preservation tours, workshops, symposia, permanent committees, and various preservation-related volunteer opportunities. The chapter welcomes new members and guests to all of its meetings and functions.
