It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony “Tin” Toomer DuPre, former President of Cape Romain Contractors and father of current President Andrew DuPre and past President Anthony “Sonny” DuPre.

A Clemson University graduate and United States Air Force veteran, Tin played a major role in shaping Cape Romain Contractors into the company it is today. After returning home to work alongside his father, he later led the company as President, continuing the tradition of hard work, integrity, and commitment that has defined Cape Romain Contractors since 1946.

Even in later years, Tin remained a fixture around the company, often stopping by to check on projects and catch up with employees. He was always known for his positive attitude, a smile on his face, and the cross lapel pin he proudly wore on his shirt.

Tin was a beacon of strength and perseverance, enduring injury and hardship without ever allowing it to slow him down or diminish his spirit. He set an example through both his leadership and the way he carried himself every day.

As a family-owned company, we recognize that our history and success were built by the generations before us. The Cape Romain family is honored to carry on the legacy that Tin helped build and preserve for so many years.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the DuPre family and all who knew and loved him.

Cape Romain Contractors is nearing completion of the second Nicholson Creek bridge on Lotti Road in the Francis Marion National Forest, following our earlier completion of the first Nicholson Creek structure. We’re proud to support this program for the U.S. Forest Service as a subcontractor to WB Construction, a Wright Brothers LLC company.

Both Nicholson Creek bridges are hollow-core slab structures on driven piles, designed for modern HL-93 loading.

The work is being led by John Deakin (Project Manager) and Aaron Christensen (Superintendent), and we have teamed with Coastal Asphalt who is providing the paving on the projects.

It’s been a pleasure teaming up with Crowder on the Cosgrove Avenue Extension Bridge and North Hobson Avenue improvements in North Charleston. Cape Romain is proud to have delivered the bridge portion of this project and to continue our strong track record of building critical infrastructure for the South Carolina Ports Authority and the Lowcountry community.

A huge thank-you to all of our crews who put in the time and hard work to make this project a success. It’s our people who make Cape Romain the company it is — a local team building projects that will serve the Lowcountry for decades to come.

Cape Romain Contractors, Inc. is proud to announce the successful completion of the Cainhoy South Impoundment – North D**e Improvements in Charleston, SC.

This project involved reconstructing 675 LF of d**e with both open-cell and closed-cell articulated concrete block mattresses, providing long-term erosion protection. At its center, we constructed a pile-supported water control structure designed to regulate flows in and out of the impoundment.

The project was delivered for Cainhoy Land & Timber, LLC with Thomas & Hutton serving as Engineer of Record. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner once again with such trusted organizations to deliver critical infrastructure improvements.
