Safety First: Ensure Your Gas Appliances Are Safe

If you have gas appliances in your home, always install carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to protect your family’s health.

Recently, we received a call regarding a rusty vent pipe. After carefully chiseling away the mortar for a closer inspection, we discovered the flue pipe was completely rusted in half and venting directly into a crawl space. Luckily, this was caught before anyone was hurt.

We replaced all the vent piping and had to abandon the crawl space due to its inaccessibility. The new vent was routed to the exterior wall, extending 24 inches above the roof line to ensure proper and safe venting.

Regular inspections and safety measures can prevent potentially dangerous situations. Stay safe!
