Case Study: Dillingen 2.0 MTPY MIDREX Flex Plant
The Dillingen plant in Germany demonstrates how next-generation MIDREX® Plant design can bring together flexibility, material handling, water treatment, digitalization, and community considerations within one 2.0 MTPY facility.
The plant is designed to support large-scale DRI production, including:
☑️ MIDREX Flex technology with hydrogen utilization
☑️ Hot and cold DRI production capabilities
☑️ Operational flexibility across pellets and lump ore
☑️ Integration with a new EAF melt shop
The project also incorporates extensive noise-reduction measures, including enclosed conveyors, clad process units, compressor silencers, and soundproof screening stations.
Dillingen shows how modern direct reduction plants are evolving to meet changing steelmaking requirements, while also addressing operational and community needs.
