Solar farm developers consider many factors when choosing a site including proximity to transmission lines and substations; a flat terrain and open spaces, impact to sensitive areas such as wetlands, and most importantly, landowners who choose to lease their land and join a project.
While concerns about rapid growth and its impact on rural America exist, the reality is that solar farms are well-suited to coexist with traditional farming and contribute to enhancing rural communities nationwide. And a very small percentage of land is actually needed for solar.

Geenex is proud to have originated the development of Fox Squirrel Solar, the largest operational solar facility in Ohio. Thank you to the local landowners, community, EDF Renewables North America and Enbridge for taking this project forward and making it the success that it is.

Proud to bring 577 MW of clean energy to Madison County, Ohio. The Fox Squirrel Solar project is officially operational.

Developed in partnership with Geenex Solar and Enbridge, Inc., the Fox Squirrel Solar project is expected to generate approximately $5.19 million in annual tax revenues for Madison County and local taxing districts. The project, touted as the largest in the state, is positioned to enhance the area’s reputation as an attractive and friendly environment for advanced manufacturing, technology, and related jobs. The full generation capacity will be delivered to Amazon through power purchase agreements, which will help contribute to Amazon’s Climate Pledge commitment.
