Polymers Center The Polymers Center was created to increase knowledge, provide technical support, and assist the plastics industry.

The Polymers Center was established to support, maintain and encourage the polymers industry by helping increase knowledge, provide technical support, and assist in the development of emerging technologies. The Polymers Center offers sophisticated engineering and testing capabilities, plastics compounding, and workforce training for Extrusion and Injection Molding. Located in Charlotte, NC and serving the Southeast, the organization has the rare combination of equipment and expertise to analyze, troubleshoot, and make recommendations to assist the plastics industry.

We’re excited to add another innovative piece of equipment to our growing capabilities at The Polymers Center!
The Kreyenborg Infrared Dryer (IRD) uses advanced infrared technology to deliver energy directly into the material, speeding up the drying process while improving energy efficiency. It’s especially effective for materials with higher initial moisture content above 1% and is also a great solution for crystallizing amorphous PET.
With this new addition, we’re continuing to invest in advanced technology to support our customers’ material development, processing, and testing needs.

With guidance from President Doug DeSimone and Material Science Manager Yiro Shimabukuro, our newest team will take on a real-world problem from The Polymers Center and work to develop an innovative invention to solve it.
We’re excited to see what this talented group comes up with! From brainstorming and design to prototyping and testing, they’ll get hands-on experience turning an idea into a working solution.
We’re looking forward to supporting them throughout the process and watching their project come to life!
