When a production site needs new storage capacity, the tank is only part of the decision.

The bigger question is whether that tank will fit the product, the process, the site layout, and the people who need to access it after installation.

For this recent Missouri project, Bendel built three approximately 13,900-gallon vertical stainless storage tanks for an industrial storage application. Each tank was built around the final project requirements, including API 650 design, stainless construction, nozzle configuration, access components, finish requirements, lifting provisions, and shipment planning.

Those details matter before the tank ever reaches the site.

They help reduce field surprises. They support maintenance access. They help the equipment fit into the larger system it was built to serve.

That is where we bring value: helping customers move from a storage need to fabrication-ready equipment that is built for real operating conditions.

Because even when the equipment looks simple, its role in the facility is anything but.

The wrong material choice can create problems long after equipment is installed.

Corrosion, temperature swings, pressure cycling, cleaning chemistry, product contact requirements, and maintenance access all affect how well process equipment holds up in real service.

In our latest blog, Bendel looks at why material selection is more than a line item on a specification. It is one of the earliest decisions that shapes durability, reliability, inspection planning, and lifecycle value.

Whether the application calls for carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, nickel alloys, or another material solution, the goal is the same: match the material to the process, then support it with quality fabrication, verification, and documentation.

Some fabrication problems do not start in the shop.
They start earlier, with a missed detail, a clearance issue, an access point, a support location, a testing requirement, or an assumption that does not get caught soon enough.

That is why front-end engineering matters.

When design details are reviewed early, the whole project has a better chance to move cleanly through fit-up, fabrication, inspection, testing, shipping, and installation.

At Bendel, we know good fabrication starts long before the first weld. It starts with practical engineering, clear communication, and a team that understands how drawings turn into real equipment in the field.

Solve the details early. Build with fewer surprises.

At Bendel, safety isn't a department. It's a culture.

For over 60 years, we've operated under one principle: no job is so urgent it's worth risking a life.

That's what Goal Zero means to us — zero incidents, zero accidents, zero environmental releases. Not as a target we chase. As a standard we refuse to compromise.

This National Safety Month, we're proud to reaffirm that commitment to every employee, partner, and community we serve.

Because at the end of every shift, everyone goes home. That's the promise.

A replacement heat exchanger has to do more than meet the process requirements. It also has to fit the plant it’s going back into.

For this project, Bendel built a custom shell and tube heat exchanger for a Gulf Coast chemical facility where real-world installation constraints mattered. The existing exchanger had reached the end of its service life, and the replacement needed to align with existing supports and nozzle locations to help avoid piping and support changes in the field.

On this build, the details mattered early: matching the existing layout, accounting for field fit, and carrying that intent through fabrication, welding, and final shipment.

That’s the kind of detail that matters on replacement projects: building equipment that fits the application, the site, and the people who will rely on it.

When equipment is going into demanding service, quality cannot depend on final inspection alone.

It has to show up earlier: in fit-up, weld preparation, weld ex*****on, in-process checks, testing, and the discipline of the team doing the work.

At Bendel, quality is built into each stage of fabrication because every detail affects how a vessel or exchanger performs in the field.

That is what our customers count on: equipment built with care, checked with purpose, and made for real operating conditions.

When a specialty chemical manufacturer needs to collect water and fatty acids as part of its batch process, the receiver tanks have to be built for the application - not pulled from a shelf.

Our Charlotte team fabricated two custom 1,250-gallon intermittent batch receiver tanks for a specialty chemicals manufacturer in North Carolina. Each vessel was built from 316 stainless steel and included shell and bottom half-pipe jacket construction to meet the project requirements.

That is where the details matter. Material selection, vessel design, jacket construction, fabrication quality, and final shipment all work together to support the customer’s process.

Great work by our team on another quality fabrication project.

Pressure vessels built for demanding chemical service need more than code compliance. They need the right material, the right design, and fabrication discipline that holds up long after startup.

For this project, our team built a Nickel 200 ASME catholyte tank for a long-running Ohio chemical facility. It was a replacement project where long-term reliability, fabrication quality, and installation considerations all mattered.

From fit-up and welding to testing, cleaning, and shipment, every step played a role in delivering a vessel built for real service conditions.

That’s the part of pressure vessel fabrication that matters most to us: not just building to code, but building equipment people can rely on in the field.
