We have some exciting news. Perrigo, the maker of all Store Brand infant formulas in the United States and Canada, has announced that we are making a $170 million investment to expand and strengthen our U.S. infant formula manufacturing, bolstering capacity and increasing access to safe, affordable infant formula for infants, parents and caregivers.
Perrigo has purchased Nestlé’s Gateway infant formula plant in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, along with the U.S. and Canadian rights to the Ge**er® Good Start® and Good Start® infant formula brands.
Perrigo will operate the Good Start® infant formula brand in the United States and Canada.
Perrigo is immediately investing $60 million in the Wisconsin plant to expand capacity by approximately 100 million more feedings per year within 18 months. These investments are in addition to the approximately $20 million Perrigo invests each year in its existing plants in Vermont and Ohio.
Nestlé will continue to fulfill its existing Women Infants and Children (WIC) contracts to ensure that there is uninterrupted supply, with Perrigo supplying product through the Gateway factory.
