Charlottesville Fire Station 1 has achieved LEED Gold certification, recognizing a collaborative effort to create a more sustainable, resilient public safety facility.

2RW provided MEP/FP engineering for the project, designing systems that contributed to a 26% reduction in modeled energy use, with on-site renewable energy increasing the total energy savings to 52%.

We're honored to have partnered with the City of Charlottesville, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, Nielsen Builders, and the entire project team on this achievement.

Sometimes the challenge isn’t just designing for today, it’s designing for what comes next.

Early planning efforts led to immediate classroom improvements while a larger renovation and addition were still on the horizon. System design had to support both, creating functional spaces now while anticipating future upgrades and expansion.

That meant designing MEP systems flexible enough to support everything from classrooms and sensory learning environments to larger assembly spaces, all while keeping the long-term vision intact.

Students and staff are settling into their new lower school building, with a ribbon-cutting last week marking the milestone. It’s always exciting to see a space come to life, especially one designed to support both learning and long-term growth.

Last week marked the ribbon cutting for the Integrated Science Center 4 (ISC-4), a major addition supporting the School of Computing, Data Sciences, and Physics at William & Mary.

2RW provided MEP/FP engineering for this highly technical facility, designing systems to support advanced research, high performance computing, and flexible teaching environments. The approach focused on performance, reliability, and adaptability to support evolving program needs over time.
