The first turbine at Coles Wind is up! Standing at full height in Coles County, Illinois, with tower, nacelle, and blades all in place—and fifty more to follow over the coming months.

Wind and solar are free. That’s not a slogan—it’s the economics.

Other forms of generation come with a fuel bill that rises and falls with the market. With renewables, once a project is up, there’s nothing to buy and nothing to ship, so the cost of the power stays steady for the long haul.

That price stability is a big part of why wind and solar have become two of the country’s most-used energy resources, making up 20% of U.S. electricity, and Apex is among the companies working to add more of it to the grid.

Apex facility managers recently gathered at Big Elm Solar in Bell County, Texas, for a three-day training on safely working in electrical substations and other high-voltage environments. Sessions covered hazard recognition, risk assessment, and emergency response, reinforced through discussion, case studies, and hands-on demonstration. A huge thank you to everyone involved for demonstrating Apex’s commitment to preventive safety!

For the fourth year in a row, Apex’s Great Pathfinder Wind donated $5,000 to the town of Stratford, Iowa, to sponsor the Kids Zone at the Stratford on the Loose festival. Four years of games, bounce houses, and a place for kids to burn off a summer afternoon☀️

Apex recently hosted an emergency response tabletop at our Great Kiskadee energy storage site in Hidalgo County, Texas, bringing together EMS personnel and emergency responders to strengthen partnerships, enhance coordination, and reinforce our shared commitment to emergency preparedness and community safety.

This collaborative training exercise enhanced emergency preparedness to better protect employees, contractors, and surrounding communities when it matters most.

This year’s Binger Summer Cooldown was a blast!

Apex’s Bullfrog Wind project sponsored the annual community festival in Binger, Oklahoma, drawing more than 400 attendees. Fireworks, live music, games, and food kept the crowd entertained, while water slides, a foam machine, and face painting were a hit with kids. Apex is grateful to our champion landowners, the City of Binger, Binger FFA, and the Binger Fire Department for making this event possible.
