AVMAC is pleased to announce that CAPT Shawn Rumbley, U.S. Navy (Ret.) joined the company as its Chief Strategy Officer on July 14, 2026, marking an important milestone in AVMAC's continued evolution as a leading middle-market provider of mission-critical aviation, maritime, logistics, and technical solutions to the federal government.
Captain Rumbley brings to AVMAC a distinguished naval career spanning more than three decades, during which he exemplified exceptional leadership, operational excellence, and unwavering commitment to mission success. A true Navy "Mustang," he began his military service as a deck seaman and advanced through the enlisted ranks before earning his commission, ultimately retiring as a Navy Captain. His remarkable career reflects a deep understanding of leadership at every level and an uncommon ability to unite people and organizations around complex operational objectives.
As AVMAC continues executing its long-term strategic growth plan, the company recognized the need to strengthen and professionalize its strategic growth and business development capabilities. The creation of the Chief Strategy Officer position is a direct outcome of AVMAC's strategic planning process. In this role, Shawn will lead the company's enterprise strategy, business development, capture management, strategic partnerships, and market expansion initiatives to position AVMAC for sustained growth while continuing to deliver exceptional value to the Department of War and other federal customers.
“Shawn is exactly the leader AVMAC needs as we enter our next chapter,” said Roberto “Bert” Ortiz, President and CEO of AVMAC. “His extraordinary journey from enlisted Sailor to Navy Captain demonstrates the character, perseverance, and leadership that align perfectly with our culture. More importantly, his strategic vision and deep understanding of our customers’ missions will transform how we pursue opportunities, build partnerships, and deliver innovative solutions. As we execute our strategic plan, Shawn will play a pivotal role in accelerating our growth while ensuring we remain focused on serving those who defend our nation.”
Shawn said, “I am honored to join AVMAC at such an exciting time in the company’s history. AVMAC has earned an outstanding reputation for operational excellence and mission-focused service. I look forward to working alongside Bert, Don, and the entire leadership team to build upon that strong foundation, expand our strategic relationships, and help position the company for continued success in support of our customers and the warfighter.”
