This staircase hallway project called for careful planning from day one — from building out this custom batten wall design to protecting the rest of the home while we worked.

We fully sealed off the workspace with plastic barriers to help control dust and keep the surrounding areas clean throughout construction. Tight access doesn’t stop the process, it just means adapting and staying organized every step of the way.

Clean lines, detailed layout work, and a custom wall feature that completely changes the feel of the staircase hallway while keeping the jobsite clean and professional from start to finish.

It all builds up to that signature Farrow & Ball depth.

We started by sealing the surface with one coat of BIN Shellac (Zinsser), creating a clean, stable base. From there, two coats of Farrow & Ball wood primer, tinted in a dark gray, were applied to develop richness and allow the Hague Blue to read with full depth.

The final coat in Farrow & Ball Modern Eggshell brings that soft, refined finish—smooth to the touch, durable, and full of character as the light moves through the space.

Layer by layer, this is what gives Farrow & Ball its look—rich, calm, and timeless.

Finished in Farrow & Ball Modern Eggshell, the Hague Blue cabinetry brings a deep, refined tone that shifts beautifully with the light—rich and moody in the evening, clean and balanced during the day.



The client selected the gold brass hardware, adding a subtle warmth and contrast that complements the cabinetry without overpowering it.

The island is wrapped in MSI Solitaj quartz with a straight edge and full waterfall, giving it a clean, continuous look with soft veining that keeps the design calm and polished.



Everything comes together in a way that feels elevated, intentional, and timeless.
