Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy is redefining the standard of care for Dry AMD. Altris AI brings clarity & objectivity to its results.

PBM adoption is accelerating across eye care centers. PBM offers a promising way to slow Dry AMD progression and preserve quality of life. But innovation alone isn’t enough—without objective measurement, it’s impossible to prove impact or guide treatment decisions. Patients want evidence. Clinicians need precision.

Drusen are one of the most informative biomarkers in PBM-treated patients. That is why we created a separate function for drusen count. By automatically quantifying their number, volume, and area - and tracking changes over time - Altris AI turns OCT scans into clear, actionable insights, showing exactly how patients respond to therapy.

With Altris AI, clinicians can:
✅ Detect 4 types of drusen — soft, hard, confluent, and reticular pseudodrusen
✅ Auto-calculate drusen across all B-scans
✅ Quantify drusen volume and area
✅ Track progression over time via maps, graphs, and percentages
✅ Automatically assess Ellipsoid Zone and RPE disruption
The result? Objective, data-driven insight into every patient's response to PBM therapy — empowering smarter clinical decisions.

AI doesn't replace clinical expertise. It gives it the evidence it deserves.

FinnGen is the largest medical research project in Finland, whose principal aim is to improve our understanding of the genetic background of diseases. The University of Helsinki is the organization responsible for the FinnGen initiative.

Altris AI supported FinnGen in large-scale OCT data analysis, processing 40,000 OCT scans. As a result, FinnGen received structured, research-ready quantitative data in XLSX format, covering 30+ retinal pathologies and 40+ biomarkers across the target population.

Data security was a critical component of the project, including full anonymization, encryption at rest, and secure data transfer protocols.

Many reserach organizations do not want to rely on manual OCT analysis anymore. Vendor-neutral OCT compatibility, combined with the ability to analyze large volumes of data at scale, is what Altris AI, an AI Decision Support platform for OCT analysis, offers to research institutions, academic organizations, and pharmaceutical companies.

Big news! Altris AI has obtained the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Medical Device Marketing Authorization (M**A) from SFDA - هيئة الغذاء والدواء: Saudi Food and Drug Authority. Altris AI is now approved as an AI-powered Clinical Decision Support System in the Kingdom.

This matters. We respect local laws and regulatory frameworks in every country we enter. Patient safety and the trust of Eye Care Professionals is not a checkbox: it is the basis for everything we build.

M**A from SFDA - هيئة الغذاء والدواء is not just a formality. It reflects strict regulatory standards designed to protect patients and ensure safe clinical use. To receive this authorization, our AI-powered Clinical Decision Support System demonstrated:

✅ proven safety and clinical reliability
✅ clear intended medical use
✅ validated performance and accuracy
✅ strong risk management and data security compliance
✅ a certified quality management system (QMS)
✅ real clinical value for patient care

Altris AI was designed to support clinicians with OCT analysis, provide a second opinion in complex cases, and highlight early changes. Adding an extra layer of confidence to OCT analysis. Now, for the Eye Care Specialists from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well!

«AI in Healthcare» is far from being monolithic. There are different tools for different purposes.

Tools like ChatGPT Health, MedLlama, and MedGemma represent a valuable class of AI: broad, flexible, and increasingly capable of supporting general clinical knowledge. Built to give generalized plausible answers. To patients mostly.

is solving a different problem entirely.

Built exclusively for OCT analysis, it detects 30+ retinal pathologies and 40+ biomarkers across scans from multiple device manufacturers. It uses an exclusive, extensive dataset of carefully labelled OCT scans. It works with DICOMs and raw files from 9 OCT. Altris AI has undergone serious regulatory review to receive FDA clearance, CE certificate, Health Canada and be HIPAA and GDPR-compliant.

It’s a precision clinical instrument created for eye care specialists by eye care specialists.

“That lights up like a Christmas tree!” - Bobby Saenz OD, MS, FAAO, AI enthusiast and daily user of Altris AI part of Altris Inc.shares his experience using the Geographic Atrophy progression module.

At Altris AI, we’ve developed a dedicated module to monitor Geographic Atrophy progression with precise measurements in millimeters (mm) and percentages (%), supported by intuitive maps and graphs.

The platform also enables the tracking of over 40 retinal biomarkers. We understand how critical objective, quantitative data is when managing complex pathologies.

Photobiomodulation therapy is reshaping how ECPs treat Dry AMD. And is making it measurable.

More and more eye care centers are adopting PBM therapy to slow disease progression and improve the quality of life for patients with Dry AMD. But with any innovative treatment, monitoring effectiveness isn’t optional. Patients also want to see the results.

That’s where AI Decision Support for OCT analysis comes in.

Drusen are emerging as one of the key biomarkers for tracking PBM treatment outcomes — their number, volume, area, and progression over time tell the story of whether therapy is working.

The result? Objective, data-driven insight into every patient’s response to PBM therapy — empowering smarter clinical decisions.

AI doesn’t replace clinical expertise. It gives it the evidence it deserves.

We’re proud to share that has been selected as one of 4 finalists for the Innovation Challenge 2026 🎉 at .expo.

Next week, Grant Schmid will be taking the stage live at Vision Expo — and we couldn’t be more energized heading into it.

✅ If you want to try Altris AI: Booth IC37

For us, this is about more than a competition. It’s about accelerating the future of eye care diagnostics: at Altris AI, it’s always been about the patient - the most important person on the other side of the screen. We exist to catch what’s easy to miss on retina scans, earlier than ever before, so that clinicians can focus on what truly matters: making the right call, at the right time. On Time.

We are not just building technology. We are raising the bar for what eye care should be.

If you’re attending Vision Expo, Grant Schmid, representing Altris AI, would love to connect in person to tell you more about it.
