Stalworth provides specialty civil and building foundation and earth retention services to the general contracting and construction management industries.

Created in 2012, Stalworth Underground was established to provide specialty heavy civil and building foundation and earth retention services to the general contracting and construction management industries. Although we are a young company, our volume has grown from our beginning in 2012 to an annual volume exceeding $30mil in just two years. We believe that three guiding principles are, and will

Stalworth Underground’s primary focus is the Chicago and NW Indiana. We reach further if the scope of the work aligns with our capabilities and have completed major projects in southern Illinois and Louisiana.

05/22/2026

Our crews are pictured installing a 42" diameter caisson to top of rock at the Create P3 Project. This shaft was installed using the tremie pour method and is part of the 6th phase of this project for CSX Railroad. TIP and CSL tested were both performed on this shaft.

04/27/2026

Our crews are installing the first of two levels of bracing on our sheet piling at the IDOT Pump Station 37 Project. By the time excavation is complete, our 230 WF of earth retention will support a 33' cut.

Installing caissons for United Center West Garage is underway. We’ve also began driving sheeting for an earth retention system on site that will consist of two 180 WF sheet pile walls, to protect an existing easement.

We are continuing work at the IDOT Pump Station 37 project located at the intersection of US 41 and IL 176 in Lake Bluff. In this photo, a crew begins installation of a section of 25' long sheets.

03/30/2026

We have started work at the 1901 Project on Chicago's west side. In this photo, some of the 134 rebar cages that will be placed in our caissons are being prepared on site. The caissons, which will support the United Center West Garage, will reach depths up to 79' below grade.

Our crews at the I-490 interchange project installed two 82' deep caissons over the past two days. The cages for these shafts reach 92' in length. These caissons will eventually help support a section of the roadway.

03/19/2026

We have crews at O'Hare International Airport working on the pictured soldier pile wall as part of the new Grade Separated Service Road to Satellite 1 Project. By the time we have finished our work, over 800 WF of earth retention will support a maximum cut height of 27'.

We have begun work at IDOT Pump station 37 in Lake Bluff where we will be installing 400 wall feet of sheeting with two levels of bracing. In these photos, our crew is installing pairs of 50' long sheets.

We continue to perform the MSE wall rehab on I-55 near Damen Ave. Our crew has done a great job navigating the confined space allowed by existing structures to get the nails installed.

Our crews are installing 58 straight shaft caissons for the new Midfield Cooling Plant as part of the O'Hare 21 Project. Pictured is a 48' long CMP liner being placed in a shaft.
