9:30 AM Update: An intense band of lake effect snow has moved inland this morning into far northeast Illinois, including Chicago. Snowfall rates could exceed 1-2" per hour directly beneath the band(s) resulting in sharply reduced visibility and locally dangerous travel. Steadier light snow extends farther inland and will result in a period of reduced visibility and winter driving conditions.
